Spider veins, or the tiny purple or red blood vessels found near the surface of the skin, are most commonly found on the face and legs. While not always a cause for medical concern, visible clusters of spider veins can cause self-consciousness and avoidance of exposing affected areas of the body.

At Guelph Medical Laser and Skin Centre in Guelph, Ontario, we utilize Laser Genesis™, Intense Pulsed Laser (IPL) photorejuvenation, or sclerotherapy for spider veinsContact us today to schedule a consultation with our medical team and find out how spider vein removal can restore healthy, beautiful skin and increase your self-confidence.

How are Spider Veins Removed?

During your consultation at Guelph Medical Laser and Skin Centre, our medical team will assess your individual vascular and skin condition to help you determine which is the best course of treatment for you. We utilize only the safest and most effective spider vein removal treatments on the market, and have multiple options available based on your individual needs and preferences.

Laser Genesis™

A comfortable, non-ablative laserLaser Genesis effectively targets redness underneath the skin without damaging or irritating surrounding skin or tissues. Laser Genesis gently heats the affected blood vessels, sealing them off and redirecting blood flow through healthy veins. The veins are then naturally removed by the body over time and replaced by healthy tissue.

IPL Photorejuvenation

One of the preferred treatments for spider vein removal, IPL involves a broad-spectrum light that effectively targets redness and dark pigmentation in the skin without downtime or major side effects. Like laser therapy, IPL works by closing off the affected veins, rerouting blood supply and permanently disabling the veins until they are eventually removed by the body.

Sclerotherapy

In some cases, our medical team may recommend sclerotherapy to treat spider veins. During sclerotherapy treatment, sodium chloride or other medicated solutions are injected directly into affected veins, irritating the lining of the vessels and causing the vessel walls to stick together. This results in the blood clotting, and the treated veins turning to scar tissue that is naturally removed by the body over time. Used since the 1930s, sclerotherapy is a time-tested vein removal therapy that is still in common practice today.

Which Spider Vein Removal Treatment is Right for Me?

Our medical team will choose the treatment option that yields the most benefit for your individual vascular condition while minimizing downtime and possible side effects.
